The night bite 2012!

Headed out night fishing tonight, and scored again!  I've been out past dark twice now, first time ended up with a nice brown around 15ish, this time I caught two browns!  First one was, once again 18.5" and FAT!  The second was right around 15" again, but while attempting to get the picture he slipped out of my hands and back into the drink.
15ish from early april at night

the 18.5" from tonight 4/18

hopefully i'll catch this guy again when he grows another 2 inches or so!

Other than the night bite, fishing today was really tough overall, they just didn't seem very agressive all day. But with the past two days i can't complain! 2 fish of 18.5" in 2 days,  I don't mind this trend at all!

Ol' hookjaw

Today i fished in dane county for a while and ended up catching around 10 fish, including my first inland wisconsin trout with a big old kype.  He was only 18.5 inches, but had a real nice hook jaw.  I also threw a mouse for a little while near dark and had a fish right around 18-20 inches come all the way out of the water on the strike!  Unfortunately he threw the hook about 20 seconds into the fight.  Next time i'll get him!

Also i caught my first two fish on a mouse about 5 days ago, i dont have pictures of them, but they were about 10 inches each... They loved the mouse on that stream, i had like 15 strikes, but only landed those two little guys.

A few nice browns

I've been fishing quite a bit lately, including monday, tuesday and wednesday of this week.  Monday was windy, but it paid off fighting the wind!  I ended up with THE strongest 19inch brown trout i've ever caught.   Tuesday I ended up with a nice 16 inch brown, that had some really, really weird fins (was he a stocker?) and yesterday i caught a 16-17 inch brown (he wouldn't hold still for a proper measurement)

19 inch brown

16 inches, and some weird fins

A better look at his abnormal adipose

a feisty 16 or so inch brown

Overall the bite has been a little slow though, not bad, but not really good either.

2011 Deer season mounts

Just picked up my two mounts from the taxidermist yesterday and snapped a couple of picture.
I got them done at Frye's taxidermy in Middleton, Wi.  I think he did a good job with both of them, and he does them for a good price.  He's done 3 shoulder mounts for us and all of them have turned out great.
Shot 5 yards apart, and 1 week apart, but complete opposites as far as antlers!

Haven't scored him yet, but he'll easily make pope and young!

right about 150" with a 23 3/4inch inside spread

The 2011 season was a GREAT one for me, not a bad season before i head off to college.

A quick hour on the creek

I had an urge to get out on the water yesterday, so I went out for an hour yesterday on Black Earth creek.  I was fishing a deep pool swinging streamers downstream (which normally i'm not a fan of, i always seem to have better luck pulling streamers downstream) and ended up getting one fish.  A healthy 18 inch rainbow.   Unfortunately i left my camera in the car, so all i had was my phone, and the pictures all ended up a bit blurry, Still better than no picture at all!

First of Wisconsin 2012

Yesterday, the 6th of march I made my way out to Iowa County with my friend Damien in search of some driftless trout.
The first creek was so clear that it was very easy to spook the fish, which ended up making fishing a bit slow.  The snow was melting quickly and making the creek pretty muddy, so we headed back downstream and fished one of the feeder creeks.
In the feeder we caught quite a few more fish including an 18 1/2 inch brown that is the biggest for the season,(well, kind of, he was somehow foul hooked.) and several nice healthy 14 inchers.   We also caught a few brookies making roughly 30 fish between us.
We hit one more stream afterwards.  It was a new stream for both of us, and it was filled with fish.  It was getting dark, but we still ended up with around 6 fish, Including the highlight of the trip, Damien's first Tiger Trout!

Not a bad start to the season, look forward to heading out again.
Talk about a pretty fish!

Not a bad start to the year! hopefully many more like this to come!

Pre-Christmas Steelhead

Made it out with Damien and his father again on Dec. 23.    Ended up catching 10 between the three of us. Including catching a double (I caught my first ever steelhead at the same time as damien's dad caught his second of the day)

Sorry for the not so thorough update, I havent had time to write anything up, and for the crappy crops of the photos.
